Blues Sessions
For many participants, one of the highpoints of the World Harmonica Festival has to be the Late Night Sessions in the Kulturfabrik Kesselhaus, the decommissioned power station on the former Hohner factory site. The sessions are hosted by Steve Baker and accompanied by his long-time backing band the LiveWires.
A tight trio of bass, guitar and drums, the LiveWires are no strangers to Trossingen and have regularly garnered high praise as accompanists at the Harmonica Masters Workshops.
Jeff Walker from London is a rock-solid bass player who has toured with harp legends such as Magic Dick, James Harman or Billy Branch and performed regularly with British jazz and blues singer Dana Gillespie.
Guitarist Jan Mohr has worked with numerous well known names on the German blues scene and is renowned for his biting tone, creative solo playing and cool sounds.
After graduating from the Hamburg School of Music and the Musikschule Osnabrück, Henri Jerratsch went on to study drums at the University of New Orleans and currently appears with Kai Strauss and his Electric Blues Allstars. The LiveWires are groove masters who love what they do and are at home in a wide range of genres.
Stylistic focus at the sessions will be on the blues in its many variations and all festival attendees are warmly invited to drop by. Those wishing to play can sign up on the night to perform a piece of their choosing with the band for an enthusiastic audience of harmonica lovers.

In addition to the legendary Blues Sessions, our guests can also look forward to our popular Jazz & Ensemble Sessions. In the small concert hall of the Dr. Ernst Hohner Concerthall, enthusiastic players have the opportunity to present their musical talent to an interested audience in open sessions. Accompaniment will be provided by a professional jazz trio led by accomplished pianist Thomas Förster, an experienced backing band which responds confidently and flexibly to the needs of the session players.
The jazz session will alternate with short performances by harmonica ensembles to provide a fiery spectacle which will make the World Harmonica Festival 2025 unforgettable.
